Our Age Groups
At Casa Amarela Providência, we welcome students of all ages. From early childhood play to youth exploration and women’s professional training, every phase is guided by care, creativity, and cultural identity. We cultivate groups that represent different stages of life, each with its own unique needs, and design programs grounded in Afro-Brazilian culture. Together, these groups form a living ecosystem of education, art, and belonging that strengthens both the individual and the community.

KEKERÊ *
Kekerê is focused on the playfulness that the literacy environment offers, with the fundamental role of interaction between caring and educating, ensuring children's right to childhood. It is built on the foundations of joy, a love for laughter and fun, and the celebration of life. Children in this group engage in activities that support emotional, physical, and cognitive development through play, cooperation, and Afro-referenced arts education. Educators guide them with tailored goals based on their age and developmental stage, using music, dance, storytelling, and cultural traditions to foster creativity, self-awareness, and community connection. Through these experiences, children not only learn and grow, but also build a sense of autonomy, care, and cultural identity.

The Erês group at Casa Amarela is made up of children engaged in a range of activities designed to support their emotional, physical, and cognitive development while affirming their ethnic-racial identity. The group participates in Afro dance, boxing, hip-hop, English, music, literacy, storytelling, and skateboarding - each rooted in methodologies that promote body awareness, cooperation, and cultural reflection. Somodé employs a play-based literacy framework that integrates care and education, leveraging Afro-referenced arts, music, dance, and storytelling to advance children’s emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Through intentional, age-specific pedagogical guidance, the program cultivates creativity, cultural identity, self-awareness, and a foundation for autonomous, community-oriented learning.

The Mulheres Independentes da Providência (MIP) group at Casa Amarela unites older women to explore health, empowerment, ancestry, and self-expression through diverse holistic activities. Programs such as Ritual do Rebolado blend dance, body awareness, and ancestral herbal knowledge to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, while celebrating both personal and collective strength. Health education is central, with peer-led discussions on women’s rights, reproductive justice, and the specific experiences of Black and elderly women. Workshops on communication and territory encourage critical thinking and deepen connections to Morro da Providência, while financial initiatives help participants build independence and strengthen the community’s economic fabric.
